info (WIP)

(contains spoilers for luuk's character story)
name: Luuk Herssen
canon: Wuthering Waves
occupation: physician, counselor,
associated with: startorch academy, he's the resident doctor for students and teachers and whomever in the area may need him (he goes on expeditions too, so he'll come to you no matter where you are!)
qualities: selfless, generous, patient, calm, optimistic, always carries candy to cheer up people (some of them with funny, fleeting side effects), likes to cook (especially waffles, but he cooks a bit of everything; he's working on the perfect lunch box for students)
flaws: selfless, restrained, constantly puts others before himself, presents a perfect facade that's hard to pierce through, doesn't truly let people get close, hides a very dark past where he was perfectly calculative and ruthlessly efficient
age: this is tricky - he seems to be in his 40s at the youngest, in his 50s otherwise (resonators like him age very, very slowly)
gender: male
height: ~190cm, he appears to be much taller than the protagonist and the female cast
build: lean, muscular, agile
voice: example (<-click!); soft, soothing, with the little lilt of a smile, always a little flirty
eyes: blood red
hair: blonde, fluffy, shoulder-length, usually tied back in a half-ponytail
style: he seems to prefer dressing in basic colors, white, black, brown, blue
sexuality: bisexual; i tend to play him as a top, but he can very well be a switch depending on the chemistry
body:
- eyesight: Luuk can see only shades of gray and one single color: golden (notes: i have absolutely no idea how he can be a surgeon and a doctor with this degree of colorblindness, but let's pretend it makes sense, orz)
- blood: Luuk has no blood in his veins, but ichor, a golden substance that's searing and corrupting to the touch. it was ichor that caused his colorblindness little by little. ichor keeps his body temperature innaturally high, giving him bouts of unbearable heat, breathlessness and chronic pain in various degrees, like he's burning from the inside out. ichor seems to be a threat to others, since Luuk keeps it from coming into contact with anyone.
- hands: Luuk has a cut on his right hand that oozes ichor, unable to ever heal, that's why he always wears gloves
- ichor: Luuk is the only human who's ever survived ichor, "The Golden Serum". the substance healed him from the very rare disease he had as a child. ichor responds to his will, conscious or unconscious, remolding itself into whatever he wishes. he generally turns it into very sharp objects, such as scalpels and scythes. he has to wear restraint devices on his neck and arms to keep the ichor at bay; it's implied otherwise it wouldn't be so "quiet" within him and would therefore pose a threat to him and others. (notes: since ichor constantly heals him, i assume he cannot get drunk, nor sick, but i consider this a headcanon.)
about his history: Luuk was adopted as a child because he had a very rare disease. his adoptive father had lost his biological son and adopted Luuk with the sole purpose of using him as a test subject for ichor. ever since a young age his suffering was glorified and linked to kindness: the more he suffered, the more chances there'd be for the ichor to work and heal as many people as possible in the future. Luuk was taught that the constant pain he was put through was ordinary and had to be welcomed.
his father adopted another ill child and prompted him to treat Luuk like a brother and get as close as possible, the twisted picture of a family. Luuk cared deeply for the boy and always tried to ease his pain as much as possible, especially since Rhein's body never accepted ichor and was instead consumed by it, leading to a suffering that lasted throughout the years. Rhein slowly started blaming Luuk for his condition, shedding more and more of his human nature.
after his father passed away and Luuk inherited his family's farmaceutical business, Novialle Regenerative Group, Luuk understood something was wrong with the company's dealings and his father: to delve deeper he infiltrated the lawless organization called Fractsidus.
under the guise of first a timid doctor, and afterwards many other roles, Luuk gathered information and informants, devoting himself to the sole purpose of finding out the truth no matter the price he and others had to pay for it. it is reasonable to assume he used any possible method to gather intel, even eliminating threats, for there's a wanted notice for his alter ego.
after thorough investigation, Luuk discovered his old man's grave to be empty. it had all been a cruel joke: the man was either substituted early on or never existed at all, another entity, the echelons of Fractsidus, playing his role instead and toying with Luuk like a puppet, nothing more than a lab rat and a morbid play.
he's been working for years as the resident physician and counselor at Startorch Academy, upon Rover's suggestion. he's been learning to be human and to allow himself softness and warmth again there, surrounded by students.
